Meet Our Team ...

South Cave Bears Day Nursery endeavours to deliver the best childcare and education by ensuring that we have a team of staff that, as a whole, will provide the right balance of skills, qualifications, experience and specialisms.

Each staff member will have in-depth knowledge and understanding gained through continuing professional development and higher-level qualification training. Staff will be trained to have an understanding of Health and Safety and use this as they carry out daily risk assessments and will be required to regularly update and obtain Pediatric First Aid, Basic Food Hygiene, Safeguarding and Fire Marshall certificates.

Parents can be assured not just of the experience and training of the staff caring for their children, but also the consistency of care. For this reason, your child will be assigned a Key Person who will be your first point of contact and report to you about your child’s time with us.

Staff are appointed following a vigorous and careful selection process in accordance with OFSTED requirements, which includes obtaining an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service certificate and numerous references.

Nursery Manager: Rebekah Dexter
(Designated Safeguarding & Child Protection Lead Practitioner)

Hi there, my name is Becky and I am Nursery Manager here at South Cave Bears Day Nursery. 22 years ago when I had my first son my life changed quite considerably and I decided to dedicate my career to taking care of children. I have been a Childminder in the area for more than 15 years and have personally cared for over 50 children. I have been the Manager of South Cave Bears since it opened in April 2014 and the nursery as gone from strength to strength.

Becky Dexter

I believe in the ethos of “nurture, nature and growth” and love the fact that we have such a low carbon footprint within our nursery.  I am very passionate about our children’s safety, welfare and education and believe they are the future.  I love my job and all the surprises, challenges and fun it brings.  I wish there had been a nursery in the area like South Cave Bears when my children were little as the nursery is located in such a lovely area with a lot of opportunities for children to explore.  I hope you decide to join us here at South Cave Bears Day Nursery where I am certain your little one will learn and have a lot of fun playing with new friends.

Deputy Nursery Manager: Sam Barton (SENCO)

Hi my name is Sam, I am very excited to have joined the team at South Cave Bears.  It is great to be back in the village I grew up in.

I have been working in childcare for over 10 years now and have a son of my own, who is now at primary school.  I have performed various roles in a variety of settings with children and families.  I studied childcare at both sixth form and university.

I enjoy watching them grown and learn and being part of their development, getting to know all the children and understanding their unique traits and characteristics.

Early Years Practitioner: Sarah Pearson

(Duty Manager Deputy Safeguarding Officer)

Hello my name is Sarah Pearson. I am 19 years old and I have lived in Newport all my life. I studied Childcare and Health and Social Care at College for 3 years, then was offered a few temporary hours at a local primary school and ended up staying there for 3 years! I enjoy watching children progress throughout their learning journey, and it’s great to know that I am a part of their growing success! I am still learning lots of new things every day but feel I have a lot to offer to every child and to help make valuable contributions to their development!

Sarah Pearson

I couldn’t see myself taking any other career path other than childcare, as it is what I enjoy doing on a day to day basis! I have a little sister and I help her as much as I can with her education, and it is lovely to know that she is achieving new things as a direct result of my assistance.

I feel it is a real privilege to work with children!

Early Years Practitioner: Lucy Clark

Currently enjoying a period of maternity leave !

Hello, my name is Lucy. I am originally from Louth but have recently moved to Broomfleet.  Since leaving school, I have always worked with children; the majority of my career has been based within a secondary school.  I started working as a Teaching Assistant, assisting with Special Needs and Behavioural pupils, then successfully completed my Degree and carrying out a teaching qualification.  I was promoted to Teacher of Childcare, Learning and Development which prompted me to realise it was the Early Years sector in which I wanted to work.  I am looking forward to getting to know all of the children and their families at South Cave Bears Day Nursery and to sharing their exciting journey with them.

Early Years Practitioner: Hollie Callender

Hello my name is Hollie and I am 21 years old. I was born and raised in the seaside town of Grimsby/Cleethorpes but recently moved to South Cave where I now feel very much at home.  I recently joined the team at South Cave Bears Day Nursery as I wanted to change my career and focus on taking care of children and helping them to develop their learning skills.  I am an apprentice here with Bears as I am studying my level 3 NVQ while getting first-hand experience working with the children. I wanted to start a career in childcare as I grew up in a big family with new additions joining almost every year and I thoroughly enjoyed interacting with the younger family members.

Hollie Callender

I also have a cousin with a disability and having spent lots of time with him means I already have some of the skills needed to provide quality care to children with different needs.  It makes me happy to know that by the time a child leaves Bears nursery, I will have contributed in helping them learn, develop and achieve their potential.
